BIELUGA Expedition 2006

All participants had to posses:

- Passport valid to February 1, 2007

- Tourist insurance for Poland, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia for a minimum of 8,000 Euro, covering the costs of airport transport back to the country of residence, legal advice and hotel for accompanying persons.

- International driving license

- Notarial deed authorizing to drive a vehicle outside one's country, translated into Russian (it applies to all the pilots in case of the driver's illness, as well as the drivers who are not the sole owners of the vehicle)


BIELUGA Expedition 2005

All participants had to posses:

- Passport valid to January 1, 2006

- Russian one entry visa - tourist, normal, or business (APPLICATION FORM, COMPLETED TEMPLATE)

- Tourist insurance for Ukraine and asian part of Russia for a minimum of 8,000 Euro, covering the costs of airport transport back to the country of residence, legal advice and hotel for accompanying persons.

- International driving license.

- Notarial deed authorizing to drive a vehicle outside one's country, translated into Russian (it applies to all the pilots in case of the driver's illness, as well as the drivers who are not the sole owners of the vehicle)

VEHICLES

- Only a motorcycle or a off-road car whose admissible total weight does not exceed 3.5 t are allowed to enter the Expedition

- The vehicle must be powered by either diesel or petrol

- The vehicle must be admitted to the EU road traffic and reach the speed of a minimum 100 km/h.


Equipment

- The vehicle's minimum obligatory equipment: a winch (spare brushes and contactors), roof rack, snatch block , five MT tires of identical type and size plus any spare tire of the same size, spare tubes (in case of a puncture that would prevent its further tubeless use), solid front and back towing lugs, hi - lift, spade, axe, two tapes (short and long one), two shackles fitting to the tapes, lugs and the block, 20 liters petrol can , GPS with USB cable and drivers, CB radio, accessories and basic spare parts.

- The vehicle's useful equipment: anchor or bars, diff lock/locks, cyclone snorkel, shield slabs (boxes, oil sump, differential gears shields - stony roads), approach slabs, saw, external GPS aerial, roof headlights, handheld searchlight, manual spare GPS and CB, kinetic line, fridge, 12/220 V booster.


PERSONAL EQUIPMENT


Team

- tent or a car adjusted to sleeping inside

- meal preparation equipment (gas cooker, spare gas bottles, pots, cutlery)

- food supplies for three days of journey outside civilization (at any moment of the expedition)

- portable can with drinking water (a minimum of 20 liters per one expedition member, recommended 20 liters plastic cans with a metal valve)

- carry-on first aid kid + a fully-equipped expedition first aid kid

- tourist chairs

- big branded torches (with spare bulbs and batteries)


Expedition participant

- clothes appropriate for the cross climate of the whole journey (from rain and freezing cold in the mountains to the heat on the steppe)

- head dress for sun protection

- wellingtons, head torch (diode), working gloves, beach towel

- 2 pairs of good sunglasses

- a set of non-expedition clothes to go out to town

- clothes appropriate for religious places. Long trousers for men and clothes covering shoulders, legs down to ankles, and head for women (female members of the expedition are recommended to take three shawls of proper size, which could be put on the head, shoulders, or wrapped around the waist anytime).

- equipment and cosmetics for personal hygiene to be used in the field (lake, cold stream, seashore, area without access to water /moisturized handkerchiefs for babies are especially recommended - minimum three packages per car/, preparations for cleaning greased hands, mosquitoes and ticks repellents)

- camera (ideally a good-quality one - photos are a priceless souvenir, there is no point in economizing here)

- two sets of digital camera battery chargers, spare capacious memory stick, car charger, USB cable and computer drives (photos can also be downloaded on the organizers' computers)

- mobile phone with roaming service on and battery charger
